Lone Star Song 2025 SongSLAM

On January 25, 2025 Rose was part of a team with composer Ben Morris, and pianist Maggie Hinchliffe who placed 2nd in the Third Annual Lone Star SongSLAM in Waco Texas.

The piece, “In Hurricane, with Horses” was composed for Maggie and Rosie as part of their classical recital project, “No More Walks in the Wood”. It is the first of three works commissioned from Texas-based artists for a tour this spring, which will highlight trees, their role in the Texas landscape, and the impact of extreme heat, drought, and storms on them. The new pieces will be performed alongside traditional German, French, and English art song.
