Award winning soprano Rose Kearin is a native of Houston, Tx. She is an active recitalist, performing around the country. Named second place in Lyra New York’s 2021/2022 Online International Art Song Competition, Rose particularly enjoys art song repertoire. She was most recently seen as a Young Artist with Finger Lakes Opera as Despina in their Children’s Outreach of The Three Little Pigs by John Davies and Opera Guild of Rochester’s Bravo Nights. January 2020 Rose performed Eleonora in Eastman Opera Theater’s production of Prima la Musica, e poi le parole by Salieri. In the summer of 2019 Rose was a young artist with Finger Lakes Opera where she performed Mrs. Nimble in their Children’s opera Jack and the Beanstalk, as well as covering Musetta and being in the chorus of La Boheme, a scenes program and on the Opera Hits! program. She reprised her role of Mrs. Nimble in November 2019 with Finger Lakes Opera and continued to do outreach and recitals for the company through March 2020. The 2018-19 season found Rose performing Micaela in Carmen Suites with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra and covering the role of Donna Anna in Eastman Opera Theater’s production of Don Giovanni. In July 2017 she sang the roles of La Contessa d’Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro and Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen with Opera in the Ozarks. Rose received her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory in 2015 where she studied with Marlene Rosen. There, she had the privilege of performing Violante/Sandrina in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera and Flaminia in Il Mondo della Luna by Haydn. Her other roles include: Ms. Hufstedler in Milton Granger’s Angry Birdsong, Celie in Thomas Pasatieri’s Signor Deluso, Emma Hale in the premiere of Oberlin Conservatory composition student Porter James’ Prophecy Machine, and Rose 2 in Blood on the Dining Room Floor by Jonathan Sheffer. Her partial roles include Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Pamina and First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Adina from L’Elisir d’amore by Donizetti, Carmela in Menotti’s The Saint of Bleecker Street, and Carolina in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto. In May of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, she graduated with her Masters from The Eastman School of Music. Rose studies with tenor Anthony Dean Griffey.
